Guild Bluesbird
The earlier model with Guild pickups and in/out phase switch achieved some truly funky sounds. The newer models with Duncan pickups offer a different tone pallet, more like a Les Paul. They all sound rich and play nicely. The new models also use a Gibson style stop tailpiece and bridge as opposed to the olders’ slanted Guild tailpiece and hyper-adjustable bridge. The mahogany body is considerably thinner than a Les Paul and the results are noticable in both heft and tone.
A great alternative to a Les Paul. Lighter, American made, set neck construction and a personality of it’s own. This guitar should be in high demand, especially considering the price compared to a L.P.
My personal favorite was a black ‘74 with gold plate hardware. My only complaint was the factory warning to not put on heavier gauge strings. It came with 9’s. The neck was slender and nice

Now that IS a nice guitar. Bluesbirds are great-sounding, great-playing, and great-looking guiatrs. Not easy getting one at a low price these days. Just too collectable I suppose, but well worth saving up for! I know walnut finish isn’t to everyones taste, but with a little binding it looks superb to my eyes.
